Eva Inés Obergfell, Dr. iur., since 2011 Professor of Civil Law, Intellectual Property Law and Copyright, Private International Law and Comparative Law at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Vice Dean for Research Matters at the Faculty of Law (since 2015, prior Vice Dean for Educational Matters). As Managing Director at the Josef Kohler-Institute for Intellectual Property Rights she organized, among other events, the Josef Kohler-Symposion concerning the reform of copyright contract law and (in cooperation with the "Initiative Urheberrecht") a Josef Kohler-Symposion with the general topic "Balancing of interests between authors and users: Private copying in the light of recent developments in the European Union", at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Her research focuses on Intellectual Property Law, especially Copyright Law, Unfair Competition Law, Private International Law and Law of Succession. Eva Inés Obergfell studied law at the Universities of Bielefeld, Strasbourg and Konstanz. In 2000 she received the degree of doctor iuris based on her thesis "Movie contracts in German Substantive and Private International Law" at the University of Konstanz. In 2010 she was qualified as a university lecturer at the same university with her work about compulsory portions (Law of Succession). She is a member of the Expert Committee on Copyright Law and Publishing Law of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property. Published by C.H.Beck she released together with Dr. Constanze Ulmer-Eilfort a book on Publishing Law.
